My eighth book has been published. After the event - presentation of February 16, 2025, which was my first collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania under its new leadership, an event that was honored with his presence by our new Metropolitan, most esteemed Mr. Damaskinos, after our joint actions to save the hagiographies of the 2 caves of Agios Nikolaos Kremastos, which was our second collaboration, the time has come for our new, third collaboration.: The material of that event entitled The Orthodox Aitoloakarnanian Pilgrimages In Caves – The Caves As Development Resources, formatted into a book with the same title and published with funding of the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania, following a relevant decision by our Metropolitan Mr. Damaskinos himself, as part of the actions of the Holy Metropolis for the 200th anniversary of the heroic Exodus of Messolonghi. Once again, I warmly thank him for his appreciation of my work. I wish continued success in our collaboration. The book records and presents, in 118 colored pages, with 150 photographs and sketches and with detailed descriptions, the cave monasteries, cave churches and cave hermitages of our Prefecture. It also presents caves as resources for development, an analysis distilled from the knowledge and 25 years of experience of the researcher author on the subject, as well as the characteristics and peculiarities of the Greek and Aetoloacarnanian speleological field and, also, clarifies the method of practice and the purposes of Speleology.
As mentioned above, the publication was included in the actions of the Holy Metropolis for the 200th anniversary of the heroic Exodus of Messolonghi. The rationale is simple: The struggle for Freedom is common …
whether it is the fight to the death of the Messolonghi people to avoid the Ottoman yoke, culminating in their heroic Exodus, …
whether it is the effort of modern man to free himself from the artificial needs and priorities that modern life creates, mainly in the urban environment, cultivating deadly anxiety, by returning to nature and indeed to its purest and untouched corners, which are the caves, …
whether it is the spiritual fight of people who want to free themselves from the oppression of passions and sin, by experiencing the Orthodox Sacramental Life in monasteries, churches and hermitages, especially those located in nature and even more so in caves, in the womb of mother Earth.
