Solo.
Στη θέση Λιμναίας Αμφιλοχίας, στις δυτικές υπώρειες του όρους Πεταλάς, στην ορθοπλαγιά πλάι στην Ιονία Οδό, εντοπίστηκε τεχνητά δημιουργημένη κατά τις εργασίες διάνοιξης της Οδού και πετρόκτιστα αποκλεισμένη είσοδος σπηλαίου. Με επιστολή μου προς τη Νέα Οδό Α.Ε., αιτήθηκα να δημιουργηθεί μικρό άνοιγμα εισόδου, ώστε να ερευνήσω το σπήλαιο. Το αίτημα κοινοποίησα α) στο Δήμαρχο Αμφιλοχίας, β) στον Αντιπεριφερειάρχη Πολιτισμού και Τουρισμού, γ) στον Αντιπεριφερειάρχη Υποδομών και Έργων. Απάντηση έλαβα μόνο από το Δήμο Αμφιλοχίας, υποστηρικτική προς το αίτημά μου και απευθυνόμενη προς τη Νέα Οδό Α.Ε. Δυστυχώς, καμία πρόοδος δεν σημειώθηκε στην υπόθεση.
Μου μετεφέρθησαν προφορικά οι υποθετικές θέσεις της εταιρείας από πολιτικό μηχανικό της – σαν να μην γνωρίζουν οι ίδιοι τι ισχύει, πως α) ίσως να πρόκειται απλά για αβαθές κοίλωμα, β) ίσως να πρόκειται για αβαθές κοίλωμα που είναι πληρωμένο με χαλαρά υλικά και το τοιχίο να έχει σκοπό τη συγκράτησή τους, γ) ίσως να πρόκειται για προσπάθεια συγκράτησης, δια του τοιχίου, του υπεράνω αυτού ευρισκομένου βράχου και λοιπές, απολύτως παράλογες ενδεχόμενες εξηγήσεις, σε προφανή προσπάθεια υπεκφυγής αλλά και ανίχνευσης της γνώσεώς μου και αντιλήψεώς μου επί του θέματος. Εξήγησα, α) πως αν επρόκειτο για αβαθές βραχώδες κοίλωμα δεν είχε νόημα η προσπάθεια απόφραξής του, β) πως αν επρόκειτο για αβαθές κοίλωμα πληρωμένο με χαλαρά υλικά θα ήταν εξαιρετικά απλούστερο να αφαιρεθούν αυτά με το χωματουργικό μηχάνημα που εκτελούσε το έργο, γ) πως ο υπεράνω του σημείου ευρισκόμενος βράχος έχει μεγάλο πάχος, 10 ίσως μέτρων και πως πρόκειται για ασβεστόλιθο ποιότητας τέτοιας που δεν κινδυνεύει από κατάρρευση και πως, εν πάση περιπτώσει, αν συμβεί τέτοια δεν θα τη συγκρατήσει το αστείο τοιχίο, δ) πως αν το κοίλωμα είναι τόσο αβαθές δεν υπάρχει κίνδυνος κατάρρευσης του υπεράνω ευρισκόμενου βράχου, οπότε προς τι το ούτως ή άλλως εξαιρετικά αδύναμο τοιχίο.
Κατόπιν αυτής της διερευνητικής επαφής, η εταιρεία δεν προχώρησε σε οποιαδήποτε άλλη ενέργεια, τουλάχιστον γνωστή σε εμένα.
At the location Limnea of Amfilochia, on the western slopes of mount Petalas, on slope next to Ionia Odos, a cave entrance was located, artificially created during the road opening works and stone-built blocked. In my letter to Nea Odos S.A., I requested that a small entrance opening be created, so that I could investigate the cave. I communicated the request to a) the Mayor of Amfilochia, b) the Deputy Regional Governor for Culture and Tourism, c) the Deputy Regional Governor for Infrastructure and Works. I received a response only from the Municipality of Amfilochia, supporting my request and addressed to Nea Odos S.A. Unfortunately, no progress was made in the case.
The company's hypothetical positions were verbally conveyed to me by its civil engineer - as if they themselves did not know what was happening, that a) it might simply be a shallow horizontal hollow, b) it might be a shallow horizontal hollow filled with loose materials and the wall was intended to contain them, c) it might be an attempt to contain, by the wall, the rock above it and other, completely absurd possible explanations, in an obvious attempt of them to evade the case but also to detect my knowledge and perception on the subject. I explained, a) that if it were a shallow horizontal hollow, there was no point in trying to block it, b) that if it were a shallow horizontal hollow filled with loose materials it would be extremely simpler to remove them with the earthmoving machine that was carrying out the work, c) that the rock above the point is very thick, perhaps 10 meters, and that it is limestone of such quality that it is not in danger of collapse and that, in any case, if such a thing were to happen, the ridiculous wall would not hold it back, d) that if the hollow is so shallow, there is no danger of the rock above collapsing, so what is the point of the already extremely weak wall?
Following this exploratory contact, the company did not take any further action, at least as far as I am aware.
